Yes, it's obviously different from the CD. Some instruments are higher in the mix than on the CD, and there's all sorts of sounds that were mixed out in the remix--making the remix much less entertaining, IMO. Some tracks have intros and closes (a capella ending to Doin That Rag, for example) that became fade-ins and fade-outs on the remix. And What's Become of the Baby is actually worth listening to on the original mix, with understandable lyrics. You can get it here:

While the remix is "cleaner," the original is much trippier. There are many "nuances" that got erased--notes, sounds, etc. that seemed like holes in the fabric. However, had I not been listening to the original since its release, I might have preferred the remix.

Remember that they totally re-recorded Aoxomoxoa after they hijacked that 16 track recorder--and tried to fill all 16 tracks!
